An elderly couple who were found dead in their home Wednesday afternoon died as a result of accidental carbon monoxide poisoning, according to state officials.
William Clark, Deputy State Fire Marshal, said that autopsies conducted by the state Medical Examiner’s Office Thursday morning showed that Dr. John Clarke, 86, and his wife, Ethel, 87, died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning.
An investigation into the source and cause of the carbon monoxide release is ongoing according to a press release issued by the fire marshal’s office, which conducted an investigation of the incident along with the Wolfeboro police and fire departments.
"The investigation is in the process of completing a timeline of the moments leading up to the event to determine what happened,’’ said Clark.
